US Appeals Court Declares Tariffs Illegal

A federal appeals court ruled 7-4 that Trump’s global tariffs imposed under the 1977 IEEPA are illegal, as the law does not authorize tariffs and only Congress can set them.

This affects Trump’s 10% baseline and up to 50% reciprocal tariffs on many countries, including China, Mexico, and Canada, but not tariffs on steel, aluminum, and autos under other laws.

Tariffs remain until October 14, 2025, pending Supreme Court appeal. The ruling may force refunds of $159 billion collected and adds uncertainty for global trade and U.S. businesses.

The White House and Trump vow to fight; the Supreme Court is expected to decide the final outcome.

How much confidence do you have that the Supreme Court will provide a final and clear resolution on the limits of presidential tariff powers?

Xi and Modi at Tianjin Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met at the SCO summit, their first in seven years, to address long-standing border disputes along their 3,800 km Himalayan border, which saw deadly clashes in 2020.

They committed to maintaining peace, resuming suspended direct flights, and enhancing economic cooperation despite India’s record $99.2 billion trade deficit with China.

China lifted export curbs on strategic goods and eased travel restrictions. Xi pledged $280 million in free aid and $1.4 billion in loans to SCO members, urging deeper trade and technology collaboration.

The meeting follows U.S. tariffs targeting Indian goods linked to Russian oil, with both leaders emphasizing strategic autonomy and cooperation beyond geopolitical pressures.

The U.S. recently imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods largely due to India’s Russian oil purchases. How justified is India's pursuit of ‘strategic autonomy’ under these circumstances?

While retail investors chase volatile tech stocks, institutions like BlackRock and KKR are quietly allocating billions to private credit—a market that's grown 19x since 2006 and now approaches $2 trillion globally.

Why? Private credit offers what traditional portfolios increasingly lack: consistent yield potential (Percent's marketplace delivered 14.9% average net returns in 2024), lower correlation to public markets, and shorter investment horizons averaging just 9 months.

With Percent, accredited investors can now access the same institutional-quality deals that were once exclusive to the ultra-wealthy. Start with as little as $500 and get up to $500 on your first investment. Invest like the smart money.

Wegovy Cuts Heart Risks by Over Half Compared to Zepbound

Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4 mg) reduces major cardiovascular risks by 57% compared to Eli Lilly’s tirzepatide (Zepbound) in overweight or obese adults with heart disease, without diabetes, when taken without treatment gaps. I

n a study of over 21,000 patients, 0.1% on Wegovy had major events versus 0.4% on tirzepatide during 3.8-4.3 months follow-up. Including those with treatment interruptions, Wegovy still showed a 29% risk reduction.

These results suggest cardiovascular benefits may be unique to semaglutide among GLP-1 receptor agonists. Novo Nordisk is also advancing an oral high-dose Wegovy, showing 15% weight loss in late-stage trials.

When weighing drug options for obesity with cardiovascular disease, would you prioritize heart risk reduction or overall weight loss?

Imagine an opportunity so significant, it could redefine wealth generation in the mining sector. We're talking about a Lithium Salar twice the size of the biggest known deposit in the world poised to deliver unprecedented returns.

This isn't just another mining venture; it's a potential stock multiplier unlike anything currently available, with returns expected in as little as six months.

Our newly identified Lithium Salar represents an extraordinary supply answer to this escalating demand. Its sheer scale offers a strategic advantage, minimizing extraction complexities and maximizing output potential.

U.S.-Venezuela Tensions Spike

The Trump administration deployed seven warships, a fast-attack nuclear submarine, and 4,500 personnel, including 2,200 Marines, to the southern Caribbean to target Venezuela’s “Cartel of the Suns,” designated a terrorist group.

A $50 million bounty was placed on President Maduro, who mobilized 4.5 million militia members in response. Venezuela’s 2024 election results are widely disputed, with fraud allegations and opposition claims of victory.

Colombia deployed 25,000 troops to combat cross-border crime, while Venezuela and Colombia pledge cooperation against narcoterrorism. Russia, China, Iran, and regional allies condemned U.S. actions, warning of instability.

Venezuela’s oil production rose to over 1 million barrels per day in 2025, amid claims of economic recovery.

What is your view on the U.S. deploying a large naval force to the Caribbean in response to narcoterrorism linked to Venezuela?

Age-Defying Weight Control

Researchers identified that aging suppresses beige fat formation, which burns calories like brown fat, unlike white fat that stores energy. They discovered that the Pdgfrβ signaling pathway inhibits beige fat in older mice.

Blocking this pathway restored beige fat production, enhancing calorie burning. Cancer drugs fludarabine and imatinib, combined with cold exposure, helped rejuvenate beige fat. This approach may counteract age-related weight gain and metabolic decline, reducing risks of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation.

The findings offer potential new therapies targeting beige fat to address metabolic diseases linked to aging.

Given the role of cold exposure in activating beige fat, how likely would you be to adopt cold therapy as a weight management tool?

Mitochondrial Glutathione Drives Cancer Metastasis

Researchers identified that glutathione levels rise sharply in mitochondria of breast cancer cells metastasizing to lungs. The mitochondrial transporter SLC25A39 imports glutathione and is essential for metastasis by activating ATF4, aiding cancer cell survival under low oxygen.

Blocking SLC25A39 could halt metastasis, with high SLC25A39 expression linked to worse patient survival. Separately, new GSTO1-1 inhibitors, compounds C5-1 and 10u, reduce inflammation and enhance cisplatin’s toxicity by targeting the NLRP3 inflammasome.

These findings highlight glutathione’s role in cancer spread and inflammation, suggesting mitochondrial pathways as promising therapeutic targets to prevent breast cancer metastasis and improve treatment efficacy.

Given the role of glutathione in cancer metastasis, should antioxidant supplements be more carefully regulated in cancer patients?
