Netanyahu Greenlights Gaza City Takeover
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu gained cabinet approval to take military control of Gaza City, escalating efforts to defeat Hamas after 22 months of conflict. The Israeli Defense Forces plan ground operations and civilian evacuations.
Israel aims to control the entire Gaza Strip temporarily, establishing a security perimeter before transferring governance to Arab forces.
About 50 hostages remain, with 20 believed alive; hostage negotiations collapsed in July. The war has killed over 61,000 Palestinians, displaced tens of thousands, and triggered a severe hunger crisis affecting half a million.
Aid deliveries are chaotic, hampered by looting and overcrowding. Israel controls 75% of Gaza.

OpenAI’s GPT-5
OpenAI launched GPT-5, enhancing coding, creative writing, and reasoning. It serves 700 million ChatGPT users and introduces “test-time compute” to solve complex problems in real time.
GPT-5 can instantly generate working software from text prompts via “vibe coding.” OpenAI faces scaling challenges but is valued near $300 billion, aiming for $500 billion.
Tesla ended its Dojo supercomputer and AI hardware project; team leader Peter Bannon left, and some staff joined startup DensityAI. Competitors Anthropic, Google, and Meta are advancing AI investments, with Microsoft integrating GPT-5 into Copilot.

Temporary Fed Board Seat
President Trump will nominate Stephen Miran, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, to temporarily fill a Federal Reserve Board seat until January 31, 2026, after Adriana Kugler’s resignation.
The Senate must approve Miran, who supports stronger presidential control over the Fed, shorter governor terms, and nationalizing regional banks. He defends Trump’s tariffs and tax cuts, downplays inflation risks, and favors rate cuts to lower borrowing costs amid $36 trillion federal debt.
Miran’s vote could shift the Fed toward easing monetary policy, aligning with Trump’s criticism of Chair Powell’s steady interest rates. Miran also proposed measures to reduce the dollar’s value to shrink the trade deficit.

Former Zillow exec targets $1.3T
The top companies target big markets. Like Nvidia growing ~200% in 2024 on AI’s $214B tailwind. That’s why the same VCs behind Uber and Venmo also backed Pacaso. Created by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech transforms a $1.3 trillion market. With $110M+ in gross profit to date, Pacaso just reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

US Doubles Reward to $50 Million for Arrest of Venezuela’s Maduro
The U.S. increased the reward for information leading to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s arrest to $50 million, accusing him of drug trafficking and ties to criminal groups like Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Treasury designated Maduro’s cartel, Cartel de los Soles, as a terrorist organization. The DEA seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro, who denies involvement.
Maduro’s 2024 election victory is disputed by the U.S. Former Venezuelan intelligence chief Hugo Carvajal pleaded guilty to drug charges and cooperated against Maduro.
Since 2020, the U.S. has charged Maduro with narco-terrorism and corruption, applying sanctions and legal actions to dismantle his networks.

Lupus Discovery
Lupus symptoms ease with age as immune gene activity and interferon levels peak in mid-life (20s-50s) then decline, contrasting normal inflammaging.
Older lupus patients experience reduced inflammation and fewer symptoms, requiring less frequent medical visits. This decrease in immune activity may explain symptom relief and suggests aging partially reverses lupus-related inflammation.
Researchers will investigate if interferon-blocking drugs have age-dependent effects and explore implications for other inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
This challenges the view of aging solely as a risk factor for autoimmune diseases and opens possibilities for age-tailored lupus treatments.

Titanium Revolution
A clinical trial with 55 overweight adults compared minimally processed foods (MPFs) to ultra-processed foods (UPFs) over two eight-week periods. Both diets were nutritionally matched.
The MPF diet led to a 2.06% body weight loss versus 1.05% on UPFs, corresponding to daily calorie deficits of 290 kcal and 120 kcal, respectively. Projected yearly weight loss on MPFs reaches 13% for men and 9% for women, compared to 4% and 5% on UPFs.
Weight loss occurred mainly from fat and water, preserving muscle. MPFs improved food craving control, with no short-term differences in blood pressure, cholesterol, or inflammation.
Ultra-processing increases appetite and overeating beyond nutrient content. Experts urge policy changes to promote whole foods.
