jamf...Putin is aware that the world has had it with his reckless killing of his own soldiers (1,000 just yesterday ), and his false and deceptive steps toward peace.
wake...Putin has problem at home. If he can get the Russian speaking territory and the lifting of sanctions, I think he takes the deal.
ned....Too many egos !
tlgo...putin is recognized globally as a war criminal, and should be arrested as soon as he sets foot on Alaskan soil. Instead, he'll have a friendly chat with trump, and head back for more of the same old, same old. If trump is involved, aside from any personal benefit he and putin might conjure, it won't result in anything beneficial to Ukraine.
kvas...Putin will decide when to end the conflict. Traitor Don just wants a chance to get up close and personal with his idol. Putin will pay as much attention to Traitor Don as an elephant does to the flea on his ass.
egan...I thought this conflict is between Ukraine and Russia.
lora...Putin realizes Trump is serious about ending the war. So it will happen. Not to say EU and Zelensky (Cocaine addict) will be unhappy but the war will be over and EU will agree later, Trump was right. If Trump cuts a deal then EU can fund the war on its own. US has no obligation since Ukraine is not part of NATO.
mend...The only way I see a benefit is if they arrest Putin as soon as he steps on US soil for international crimes
nanc...As usual, Putin is playing tRump for a fool and just trying to draw things out to postpone sanctions. TACO may be so appreciative that his hero met with him that he’ll forget all about sanctions or any notion of punishing Russia.
sara...Trump is too stupid and impulsive to truly negotiate. Puting plays him like a fiddle. You don't have to believe he has compromising information on Trump to believe he will always come out the winner when they interact...And Trump.diesnt care in the slightest about Ukrainian suffering - but only about himself.
mdul...Like apparently almost all your readers, I think the Alaska talk is unlikely to produce a meaningful step towards ending the conflict. However, I think that Putin is likely to arrive with a series of shiny objects to distract our ADHD POTUS who will tout those as great achievements. Maybe it will be some kind of real estate deal since that is what Trump most loves. Maybe it will be some kind of assurance of something Putin claims he will do. No matter what, though, Trump is unlikely to leave the talks without declaring some kind of face-saving achievement while still ensuring his mentor, Putin, gets to continue doing what he wants.
tere...Putin's continued reign depends upon Russian victory - there is no substitute for victory. Threats will not deter Putin. He only understands a punch in the nose.
usct...Trump craves the Nobel Prize so much that it is hard to say what he would give up to acquire it. Since he said he is meeting Putin in Russia, even though they are to meet in Alaska, maybe Alaska is to be included in the land swap for peace.
eric...Putin has already proven he can outlast sanctions and take what he wants without concessions.
86sh...Putin playing Trump again.
m.kd...Unfortunately based on past results … I would be very glad to be wrong
patc...Trump will not come prepared to accomplish any meaningful outcome for the invasion. He’s just hoping to create a headline to distract attention away from Epstein.
falb...Putin is unlikely to stop his ambitions to annex Ukraine.
knor...Nothing, and I mean nothing, done by this president is good for anyone other than himself.
pfor...Putin will play Trump like a puppet as always. Trump talks tough on sanctions and then TACO's, over and over again. He is in so far over his head. Zelensky must be there for a meaningful meeting. Anything short of taking Putin into custody will be a dissapointment.
rand...Trump blew his opportunities when he related, pre-election that he would end this war within two weeks of being elected. Whatever sanctions are left should be applied including those with the EU
rtar...Trump dribbles shit
john...Putin will play him with this stalling tactic to expand his land grab.
spri...Putin is just a THUG wanting to re-establish the old Soviet Empire and thinks he can run over anybody!
rjre...Without ALL the principals involved it’s meaningless
jame...Trump is being played by Putin who has no intention of ever leaving Ukraine and will continue grinding forward.
nasm...It’s political theater
msvg...Putin is too smart for Trump and he will be emboldened from the summit
coli...Putin is a megolamaniac acting like he 'owns' the planet............... Trump represents the planet (other than Russia, China and its allies) and acts like a pussy. Hardly likely to get a consensus! Trumps needs to act like a true western statesman first, use the levers he has threatened to curtail Putin's war ambitions, then act as a mediator for the glory (which the orange narcissist craves). Russia will continue its illegal war whilst it has effective immunity from being attached on its own soil. C'mon Trump and the European 'leaders' (read talkers) allow long range weapons to be used by Ukraine before it's too late.
bmad...Putin nor Trump are to be trusted!
rmen...No incentive
tubi...dumb donald the pedo is only going there to kiss ass. probably securing a place to hide from prosecution.
jane...Put Putin needs to end this war. Their economy will be severely restricted by Trump's sanctions.
atli...An unjust peace is better than a just war. This war could have ended before it began were it not for a NATO reliance on power over others versus cooperation with them.
came...I would not underestimate President Trump
cham...Putin will continue to play Trump like a fiddle, appealing to his ego while conceding nothing.
cica...Everyone knows how to play TACO. And Putin is playing him like a violin.
arth...It’s past time for the ignored rhetoric. Just do what he says he going to do!
sopa...The ukrainians are fighting for territory and since 2014 are trying to expel the russian people from lands they own for centuries. The russians are defending his nation that own and leaves in those lands for centuries. This is the conflict.
rdre...
twin...Trump is a putin puppet! Putin is laughing at trump! Its disgusting to watch these two power mongers. Trumps brain doesnt think before he speaks. He belittles anyone who opposes him. Such a despicable person!
vtgr...Putin is wiley, dishonest and manipulative. Trump is no match for him.
milt...It looks to me like Trump is only going to back down if he is unequivocally forced to do so.
bob....Putin has lost some “face” during this conflict but other than that, he’s only lost people whom he doesn’t value at all. He’s gained territory for Russia, and the only thing that would reduce the territory he has gained is this peace attempt and the stated goal of rolling back Ukrainian ground lost to Russia. Why would he do that?
mich...The economy in Russia is faltering and will get worse if this war doesn’t end. A cease fire is not good as it will allow Russia to rearm while the Ukraine will not be as likely to ream equally.
wspa...Tough to deal with the devil!!
marg...Even if Ukraine accepts the Trump-Putin carve up of Ukraine, the attack will continue in the future.
flem...Trump's assessment of his abilities as well as his expectations are unrealistic.
fran...Putin, Stalin, Brezhnev, Khrushchev, all the same. Is Ragen said the evil empire
fnpn...Talking is better than not talking.
ocds...Another dog and pony show with Orange Jesus getting played again.
pegg...It’s a distraction tactic from his fear of the Epstein files.
amyg...Ukraine HAS to be part of the negotiations- duh!!
step...Frump arrogantly stated that he would end the war on his first day in office. Now, almost 7 months later, he has repeatedly threatened harsh sanctions against Putin without implementing them and schedules a meeting with pal Putin without Ukraine representation. Whose side is he on?
chri...Unlikely if by meaningful you mean one that is fair to Ukraine and Trump upholds American and NATO values.
cger...Trump is a master negotiator. I believe that the large "unlikely" vote is from your mostly Progressive Leftist Democrat voters that have "TDS" and would vote against him at every turn, just as they are for trying to stop DC violence and crime.
trag...Putin has little incentive to end the conflict unless it is on his terms and it is doubtful he will make any significant concessions. Trump will play the part of a bully and Putin will do the same. Not very promising. Zelenskyy needs to be part of the discussions and it appears that he is being excluded or minimized.

To what extent do you believe internal company culture influences the success of AI research teams?

  • 57% Both culture and resources are important
  • 26% Culture is the key to long-term success
  • 17% Talent and resources matter more than culture

EmailComments
lora...Talent is the bottomline. This industry does not need and should not tolerate mediocre personnel who do not want to work
lind...Culture can change quickly. It takes time to build a strong culture, not much time to destroy it.
bob....Without resources, nothing can be done. Without culture, nothing can be sustained and often won’t get far at all. Talent is transient and there are always more talented people looking for well paying jobs, but since money is a resource, without it companies have no advantage.

Do you believe embedding hidden trackers in AI chip shipments is a justified method to enforce export controls?

  • 79% Yes, it helps protect national security
  • 21% No, it raises privacy and ethical concerns

sopa...The american government is acting as a socialist government! What a shame!
tubi...the very thing they berated overseas chip mfr's for.
nanc...What isn’t tracked in our society? Everything we do is monitored by someone.
chri...It’s a constant “spy vs spy” routine.
atli...No secrets, and cooperation over competition are the surest ways to progress for consumers.

What do you think about including crypto assets in 401(k) retirement accounts?

  • 70% Too risky for retirement savings
  • 18% A positive step toward diversification and growth
  • 12% Neutral

EmailComments
andr...It's crazy most people here want people to regulate risk and have the government exclude access to capital. If you think it's too risky to invest in crypto with your 401k, don't do it! You don't need a government telling you what you can and can't do.
marg...Talked about this with my financial advisor. He is just as skeptical as I, but defends the need to participate in a broad array of investment, keeping crypto at a very limited sector. Fears of a big "blow up" of that sector down the road.
lora...If investors understand the risk of cryto then let them invest, but if they lose they should only blame themselves and not ask for the government to bail them out.
bret...Blockchain is incredibly useful. Why does it need to be considered a currency or investment? Let the technology function and charge a toll for use. Bitcoin serves no function, completely useless. A limited supply of nothing is still nothing.
nanc...Very bad idea! The whole point of retirement accounts was to have a safe way to save money, but the volatility of crypto is anything but safe, especially with all the manipulation going on by this president, his billionaire friends, and congress. So corrupt!
kvas...It you're 25 and you have four or more decades of working ahead of you to make up for your losses, go ahead and roll those dice. Otherwise, you'd be out of your mind to gamble with your retirement funds that way.

Given this mechanism, do you believe sensory experiences are more determined by external stimuli or internal brain states?

  • 41% Internal brain states heavily influence sensation
  • 41% Equal balance
  • 18% External stimuli mostly determine sensation

EmailComments
atli...Science asks questions. Continued research will answer them.
jamf...All of our sensory experiences are processed in the brain. I have problems with sensory integration due to severe brain injury from Covid 2020 invading my brain stem.

Considering the ethical concerns, how acceptable is it to use components from young donors (like blood or bone marrow) in anti-aging treatments for older adults?

  • 49% Acceptable with proper consent
  • 37% Unacceptable due to ethical issues
  • 15% Unsure

EmailComments
nanc...There is no proper consent from a child, or from the child's parents. We're going to get old, just accept it and do the best you can!
nanc...Proper consent can be a slippery slope. Not sure I see the importance of anti-aging treatments.
atli...More research is needed. Hopefully religion will not get in its way.
kvas...This is the stuff of science fiction. How do we apply for a license to start a baby farm to sell baby blood and bone marrow to wrinkled up old rich white people?
mend...I can’t even imagine what would happen in third world countries’s harvesting bone bone marrow probably a risk anywhere where people get greedy
deca...So this is how all those celebrities are looking half their age. Child blood rings
