wake...Domestic production of chips , being in everything, are simply too important for national security to be left totally in private hands.
atli...Public investing in private business closes the loop on the US oligarchy.
bobl...We saw the concentrated MITI strategy and resources in autos with Japan for 20 years, now we see China CATARC. It's all too easy to say we're capitalists, let the market decide but it's obvious we'll not easily win against focused, well educated, and well financed adversaries! Armies marching into battle with a drum and lines of soldiers was "the way" until others innovated and changed the game.
walk...The Fed needs to help Wolfspeed also
payn...Why not invest in an American company on American soil.
chri...The government should support emerging green industries domestically. Maybe chip development too? Not try to pick horses and invest in specific companies. An exception would be in war time
mrse...Welll, I’ll be! Trump becoming a socialist!
tomd...I strongly believe that, if we don't invest in our own IP, then our adversaries will gladly do it for us. Enough said.
mdul...Recall the outrage and uproar from Republicans when Obama took the steps to make investments into the automative industry. Also recall that almost no Republicans voted for the CHIPS Act that Biden managed to enact into law. And there is example after example of Republicans condemning this kind of government direct investment. Now, since Republicans just do whatever Trump wants, there is likely going to be no meaningful dissenting view and just support.
robe...Look at the US Railroad system compared to the rest of the world ... the Fed / Amtrax and that is just logistics not technology so how do you think this will work?
andr...It's really a testament to the death of the American conservative that the 20-25% who reliably support *any* Trump policy in these polls are willing to support nationalization of private companies. This is where the far right meets the far left, fascism meets communism. MAGA suddenly sees Venezuela as a govt model? Oof.
jare...If you understand that the dollar is directly tied to the US product and services we produce and that all OTHeR advanced fab companies have massive government support that are beating Intel then you would say yes to this.
cyou...WTF is going on
rtet...We supposedly live in a democratic republic with capitalism for the economic framework. Government direct investment in individual businesses is common in communism. The GOP mistakenly claims socialism (like in Scandinavian countries) is communism. Communist countries, such as China, control and invest directly in businesses. Trump 2.0 has already done this with US Steel and is now going after Intel. American businesses should wake up before the US government sits directly on the board of their corporations taking away other shareholder and management autonomy.
blik...And, Private Companies who collude with International Enemies such as Russia, Communist China, Iran, North Korea, the Marxists in Central and South America, should face trade barriers, and prosecution if evidence shows they are engaged in espionage or Intellectual Property THEFT. We have allowed infiltration of government, academia, and pirvate sector organizations for too many years. We are past time to wise up, tighten up.
ceal...I wouldn't have said "yes" 10 years ago but the CCP is clearly a greater threat to national security.
sld6...This is not my vote, I thought I was looking at responses. Too early lol
pete...Incentives like low cost loans, tax rebates, and the like are one thing, but ownership is a bridge too far. It's simply not necessary. Intell is not facing bankruptcy. They simply need time and stable leadership and a stable economy to execute their business plan.
sopa...This socialism.
john...Direct government investment in private firms is a further step toward facism.
milt...There is a history of these types of investments not working well. Intel is struggling because they have lost their way. Making an investment in a failing firm generally doesn’t produce the desired results. Forcing companies to use their products also is generally a bad idea. There is a reason companies have moved away from Intel and giving them money has a high probability of not fixing problems (and wasting money).
lewi...Leading the world in AI is more important than any other interest currently. I’d normally not support Gov’t meddling in private companies, this is too important to lose.
neil...But not for this country only socialist countries. USA is in a death spiral and is becoming dangerous by lashing out
nanc...Intel has benefited from the Chips Act, but things started to go south when tRump suggested canceling the bipartisan bill in March.
bret...Republican mantra has always been government is inefficient as well as free market capitalism. This is not a Republican party I recognize. That being said, government investment in key industries could make sense. This is preferable to widespread tariffs and possibly to even targeted tariffs. I suspect if Biden did this, Republicans, including Trump, would have lost their minds.
ajho...That is how socialism grows.
mich...That is Socialism. That is what Trump wants. WHO IS THE SOCIALIST NOW!!!!
cica...Isn’t the government taking control of companies the dreaded socialism that people on the right have always been so afraid of? I guess it’s just OK when they do it, right? Who are these fucking people. Trump‘s nothing but a grifter and I doubt the US government’s gonna see any of that money, but Trump will
kvas...The U.S. government might start out investing in private companies "to support strategic industries," but how long will it be before orange comb-over boy's golf course becomes a strategic industry? I've never had such a cynical view of my own government until Traitor Don came around and showed just how corrupt government can be, even in the U.S. Traitor Don will absolutely abuse this proposed power.

What do you believe is the primary factor contributing to China’s economic slowdown in 2025?

  • 58% Domestic issues like the property market and private demand
  • 42% Trade tensions with the U.S.

EmailComments
gwal...This mailly because of the terriffs in place and bringing back manufacturing to the US.
robs...Real Estate crisis 5 times worse than ours in 2008/9!
nanc...China has found new markets to replace the U.S. Their property market has been in decline for years.
milt...Both these points are having significant impacts.
btaw...Read back those numbers. They may be down some, but those numbers are strong and positive.
cica...It’s actually both of the above. They have an export economy, so Tiffin trade tensions reduce that flow of income.
ceal...How about both?

Given the current inflation situation, how should the Federal Reserve approach its interest rate policy this September?

  • 52% Avoid rate cuts until inflation is reliably under control
  • 36% Proceed with a smaller rate cut (e.g., 0.25%) to cautiously support growth
  • 12% Implement a larger rate cut (e.g., 0.5%) to stimulate the economy

pete...The dual mandate of the FED is under tension now. A small rate cut would send a message to business leaders that the FED will react to an employment slowdown as long as inflation seems reasonably under control.
nanc...It doesn’t seem responsible for the Fed to cut rates as it seems like inflation will continue to rise as the full effect of the tariffs is felt.
atli...Whatever pleases a President with financial conflicts of interest is bad for the rest of us.
tomd...I'm actually on the fence between a 0.25% and a 0% rate cut, but I figure it won't hurt to cautiously start lowering rates on the premise that tariff-driven inflation will be temporary and that the natural market forces will eventually even things out and reach a new, healthy equilibrium.
cger...In the past consumer spending drove inflation and so the Fed was able to control it with rate changes and it worked. The inflation of today is driven by FEDERAL over spending and FEDERAL overreach in the energy market, virtual signaling by destroying the current energy industry without having an adequate alternative to replace it. Biden was THE SPENDIEST President in history!!! Yet the Fed is responding the only way it knows how, by raising rates. This exacerbates the problem, because now it costs the Government more on interest rates. The current Government over spending is still high, but is being offset by tariffs income and and Government efficiency cuts and deregulating the energy industry, Biden tried to kill. Trump is RIGHT. This is a new Federal Government with better policies so Lower the rates and the economy will prosper without out-of-control inflation.
walk...Unusual situation. Inflation is being caused by by external costs not excessive demand. An increase in capital via a rate cut would ease money supply.
mdul...The only reason to make a rate cut at this time would be to satisfy Trump's demands. However, the Fed has only two goals, the so called dual mandate - maximum employment and stable prices. With most domestic sectors saying that they no longer have the ability to absorb the cost increases from Trump's tariffs, they have no choice but to now start passing those along to consumers, increasing costs and driving inflation.
cica...A rate cut will stimulate growth and consumption, and that will in-turn lead to higher inflation
andr...We have real time inflation data with truflation. Currently showing roughly 2% inflation. Not bad, all things considering.
dary...Or fire the statistician.
geof...Don’t cave in to Trump’s tariff-caused inflation increases. Stay the responsible course.
ceal...It takes time for rate cuts to move through the economy and with a smaller rate cut, the Fed can be more confident in continuing to run off its bloated balance sheet.
bret...Until tariffs are fully worked through the economy or sales and or jobs take a hit, the fed has to wait. Additionally, the fed can't cut with stocks in bubble territory.
milt...I think they should wait and continue to measure inflation. The labor market is softening but not in trouble.

How serious do you consider the impact of the Russian hackers breaching sealed U.S. court records?

  • 2% Less serious than portrayed, overhyped

nanc...Tulsi Gabbard is too busy accusing former President Obama of treason to worry about any real threats we’re facing. His whole crew are a bunch of morons, who have no idea what they’re doing.
atli...The consequences of Reagan's rejection of Gorbachev's sensible proposal that Russia become a partner rather than a foe. We have fulfilled our wish.
mich...We should not trust Russia or anyone who tries to defend their invasion of Ukraine, taking of children, murder of civilians and soldiers as they defend their country and continues to trick Trump into doing things that hurt our country and the world!
cica...Russia is just basically one big criminal gang led by Putin. Nothing goes on there without his blessing. That’s how much distain he has for Trump. Even as they prepare to meet to discuss “peace” in Ukraine. Putin openly hacked the US government.. he’s laughing at Trump

Do you believe suppressing the body's natural pain and immune responses could have harmful long-term effects?

  • 40% Yes, blocking pain and immune responses may cause other health issues
  • 39% No, targeted suppression is a beneficial therapeutic strategy
  • 21% Unsure

miah...Who needs White Blood Cells or pain receptors? Not this guy
kvas...What??!! Get that worm back in RFK Jr's head!
cica...Pain is a signal that your body is in trouble and needs attention. The source of the pain is what has to eventually be treated.
tomd...I definitely like the idea, but I believe much more study and more trials are needed to ensure its safety and the absence of serious unintended side effects.
milt...But continuing to research this could bring clarity and provide an improved treatment for many condit
atli...Shows the power of scientific research. Fire RFK, Jr. and ramp it up.

cger...Pot is as dangerous as alcohol.
joyo...Working with young people that are able to legally participate in consuming these products show a decline in what is actual reality. Anticipating a decline in happy healthy people.
atli...We blew it by not nationalizing and controlling drug distribution
laur...Young teens are smoking pot and getting this syndrome! Recreational pot should never be legal! Why do states always have their money greed triumph over the well being of young people! It’s disgraceful!
