Anna's Daybreak News
Just facts, you think for yourself
Do you believe that imposing a 15% tariff on most European goods benefits or harms the U.S. economy?
- 50% Harms the U.S. economy
- 40% Benefits the U.S. economy
- 10% Neutral
Comments | |
---|---|
cmic... | The 39.5% who think this benefits the US economy are delusional |
phil... | INFLATION |
atli... | Increasing tariffs from 1.5% to 15% increases consumer prices in the US and harms the world economy all to feed Trump's ego. |
blik... | This level of international trade and domestic security, then prosperity, escapes the myopic vision or intentional subversion of U.S. interests exercised by embedded Marxists and sinister subversives. The Right simply must press on. |
crai... | When I look at the high percentage of people who think a 15% tariff on goods coming into the US I am stunned by the sheer ignorance of basic economics. |
frit... | we already are seeing significant drops in the US dollar, and in tourism. Alienating our biggest allies will continue to damage US commerce. Additionally, this puts a greater burden on the US consumer to shoulder the costs of these tariffs. It will increase inflation and reduce GDP. |
cepo... | You must look at the total picture. It will result in 0 tariffs on our goods sold to EU, which will definitely help our economy. Plus revenue from the tariffs will help reduce our deficit, thus helping our financial foundation. |
sopa... | The Trump's tariffs are on american people. Have this on mind. |
bjta... | Wow 50.4% of respondents believe 15% tariffs on EU goods entering the US harms America. These people need to have their heads examined. For years Europe and the EU have taken advantage of the US by imposing stiff tariffs on US goods entering their countries while not paying the same tariffs on goods entering the US. This agreement levels the playing field. In addition the EU will purchase US energy to the tune of $750 billion (moving away from Russian energy) and invest $600 billion into the US. Again, tell me how this does not benefit the US economy? Those 50.4% who say this deal harms the US economy have exposed their significant economic ignorance and their TDS!! |
chri... | Maybe some benefit to US but overall bad for US relations. The cost to US will be higher in terms of lost geopolitical power and stability of Europe. |
rjon... | While I enjoy the Daybreak information, these political polls rarely are topic responses. It's like a vote in House of Representatives... either you are for or against regardless of the true value or potential impact. |
suzh... | We, the consumer, ultimately pay more. The tariffs collected? Where is the money going. We’re gutting programs. Collecting tariffs. And increasing the debt by 8 trillion. So where is the money really going. Why are we increasing the debt. Why still allowing elaborate entertaining. Money is going down black hole and human rights being trampled. It’s all for greed. Destroying our democracy. |
geor... | Since Americans pay for the tariffs , we are the ones harmed! And I cannot believe that so many people think the foreign countries pay the tariffs! This is a killer for smaller US companies as they don’t have the ability the Walmarts and Amazon have to persuade the foreign companies to lower their prices so the US companies pay less tax on what they import. But our US smaller companies don’t have that clout, and they will pay the price. Since tariff monies go into the US Treasury, now Trump will be able to claim that he lowered the deficit. That may be true, but at what cost to ordinary Americans who now are paying higher prices for stuff made elsewhere! Yes we should have some tariffs, but not 15%. And let’s hope the Chinese agree to something soon or our economy will certainly fractured! |
tubi... | the tariffs should only be used to level the cost of production from on country to another. |
jtba... | Tariffs almost always are drags on on GNP of a country. I'll have to give Trump credit that many countries have been getting away with murder for decades. You have to understand that these tariff agreements have been negotiated for years and years between the United States and these other countries. Trump is just taking a harder stand than multiple past presidencies and even his first term in office. |
jani... | The additional costs are always passed into the vonsumer |
btaw... | Inflationary impact that people like me pays for. |
cica... | A tariff is a tax. It is regressive. It puts the burden of raising tax revenues, disproportionately on the poor and the people who can least afford it. The people who make less money pay more for goods as a proportion of their smaller income than rich people. |
jobe... | As we know, tariffs are paid for by the consumer not the overseas selling the product. In order for the tariffs to take effect we should then buy American products (since the tariff would force us to buy a more expensive product, with tariff, or buy a “cheaper” American product. The problem is that there aren’t good quality products to replace the foreign products. American products cannot compete! Plus, they are manufactured overseas! |
sher... | Short term benefit, long term pain. |
arth... | Tariffs mutually agreed up bring parity. Trumps negotiating fair tariffs help protect American business and jobs. In the mist of all the arguments the stock market is breaking records. Go figure pseudo economists. |
john... | It is a tax increase on US consumers which will reduce our purchasing power and thus consumer demand. How is that good for the us economy? |
marc... | If material are more expansive customer will se price increase in products - |
aunt... | We're starting to level the playing field finally! Trump put us into a surplus within 4 months because of tariffs! He knows EXACTLY what he's doing, and I love the picture he's painting! MAGA! |
chri... | David Ricardo's positive sum trade analysis is still valid, but you can't have barriers. Zero tariffs on all sides benefit the economy. The devil in the details in is in the non-tariff barriers such as EUDR, GDPR, and bans on hormone treated beef or the US restrictions on importing food products. These deprive EU and US Consumers of choice and raise prices. |
djti... | There will be many people saying here that the tariffs are terrible, will hurt both economies, it's just more Trump bullying. Many if not most of those same people would've said the tariffs were way overdue and praised the president for brilliant negotiating tactics if said president was named Harris. |
lato... | For the people who believes it helps the economy is like them to provide context on how? If Costs are passed on to consumers it means we’re paying more for a variety of products however job and wage growth remains flat or declined in some sectors. So essentially everyday people feel the pressure. |
adam... | As an importer of European wine, it hurts my business. Those tariffs go straight on top of the current cost and consumers buy less. It's that simple. |
edmo... | It will make USA prices more expensive fuelling inflation. |
sara... | Our average EU tariffs prior to this stupidity were around 1-2%, except for targeted tariffs addressing areas where EU subsidies or trade barriers disadvantaged US producers. So this is an overall SIGNIFICANT increase in US prices for EU products - with no point except to humor the naked emperor who thinks he is an economic genius while actually not understanding a thing. |
beer... | 15% is a very reasonable number and it will not hurt the GDP of Europe much but it will be beneficial for United States. Important strategic items are excluded from this, which is good for both US and Europe. |
jefe... | It makes US goods more competitive in the world markets. |
cind... | This is just a price increase for Americans. |
mwny... | Why do I have to pay a 15% tax on anything I buy from Europe? I’m getting screwed . |
How much weight should a suspect’s unknown motive carry when charging crimes with terrorism or intent to murder?
- 63% The act itself is enough regardless of motive
- 19% It depends on the context and evidence
- 17% Motive is essential for fair charging and sentencing
Comments | |
---|---|
tubi... | the act was purposefully carried out and should be charged as though there was intent to kill, as all similar criminal acts. |
perm... | The charge of terrorism in criminal cases should be aimed at suspects whose motivation is ideological in nature. Honestly, any attack on others creates terror, however there may or may not be an ideology as the core motivation. Over use of the charge risks lessening its impact when it is truly justified. |
rgto... | Punish the crime, add on extras as they become evident. |
sesi... | The real question is why weren't there any armed citizens to stop this rampage? |
chri... | Terrorism is the use of violence to affect political change. If there is no political motive it aint terrorism. Adjust the charges to adequately punish the crime without making every crime terrorism. |
miah... | Yall a bunch of leftist sops. Intent is critical to determine appropriate sentencing. God forbid you accidentally kill someone verse plan out a terrorist plot. Had it been a white person terrorizing a gay black church you’d claim differently. |
blik... | One who fails to kill in an obvious attack with deadly force should be punished as if he succeeded. Here? 8 counts of murder! No insanity pleas! Of course he was “insane” while butchering fellow human beings offensively. No excuse. F I R I N G SQUAD. |
ecek... | The charge says terrorism *is* the motive. If it turns out the suspect’s motive wasn’t terrorism, then the charge is incorrect and a conviction may be harder to obtain.. |
to55... | Thank God he had a knife , and not an AR-15 ! If he had an assault rifle he would have killed all those innocent people AND MORE ! |
jrmu... | I suspect this is a mental health issue/ breakdown. When will our politicians address mental health? |
trag... | In a situation like this, motive is largely irrelevant. There really isn’t a motive that would excuse this violent behavior or have much impact on sentencing, except possibly self defense , although that doesn’t seem to be at all a factor here. I suppose a defense attorney would argue for insanity and it certainly is an act of violence that is not completely sane. If terrorism is found to be a motive, we would want to know if the assailant acted alone so we can try to prevent additional episodes and apprehend potential conspirators. Regardless ,it was an action that caused significant bodily injuries and should be charged and sentenced as such. |
nanc... | Justice must be even-handed, unemotional and consistently applied. Revenge is none of those things. Context permits justice to be used. Also, motive can be mis-ascribed. |
Should Tesla’s CEO personally intervening to speed up chip production be seen as an effective leadership approach?
- 66% Yes, hands-on leadership can drive success
- 23% Depends on how it’s managed
- 11% No, such involvement could complicate processes
Comments | |
---|---|
sara... | No CEO should cause his company to take actions based on his personal whims. The impacts of any specific decision are complex and longlasting. They are best undertaken with adequate analysis, consultation of global trade , resource and other factors, and not decided by a single person - especially one known to be a heavy drug taker and manic personality. |
robs... | These survey questions foster a culture of baseless, ignorant opinions. Our country needs fewer opinions and greater intellect. |
beer... | Definitely enhances productivity when CEO is directly involved, even though there may be some issues in the short term. |
bjta... | Elon Musk indicated he will personally walk the production lines to assist Samsung in improving the efficiency of their Texas Fab. Musk is an incredible engineer and leader. This is a great partnership. It will benefit both parties. |
How effective do you believe Ukraine’s drone strategy has been in impacting the conflict with Russia?
- 55% Moderately effective but with limited long-term impact
- 41% Highly effective in weakening Russian military capabilities
- 3% Ineffective or symbolic
Comments | |
---|---|
chri... | These belligerents are redefining warfare. And the rest of the world gets to watch and take notes. The Chinese are giddy about controlling their role in producing low-cost drones based on supply chains for consumer electronics. |
arth... | They have been extremely effective. Furthermore, their technology is improving drastically and they will expand and become even more effective. In the near future, because of the ability to hide, transport, and use them, they will become universally a terrible terrorist weapon besieging all nations. |
joyc... | Your article editing is asinine. Title doesn’t come close to the article |
andr... | Why was this titled “France to recognize Palestine”? |
sara... | Highly effective most importantly for bringing the war back home - alerting Russians to the endless war being carried out in their name, and the potential for damage and injury within the boundaries of Russia. |
Given the 26% reduction in malaria cases with ivermectin, how significant do you think this breakthrough is for malaria control?
- 62% Very significant, a potential game-changer
- 37% Moderately significant, a helpful but partial solution
- 1% Not very significant
Comments | |
---|---|
nanc... | Hopefully, mosquitoes won’t develop a resistance to Ivermectin soon. |
sara... | Its a great advance - and an appropriate use for Ivermectin, which is a drug intended to kill parasitic organisms (NOT viruses). Let's prevent the idiots from misappropriating and mis-administering Ivermectin, which is very effective against scabies and other parasites in developed countries - and now shows this significant promise in addressing malaria in areas where it is endemic. (Don't forget - given the lack of action to combat climate change, the vectors are shifting and malaria may once again become common in the US in future.) |
atli... | At a time when more scientific research is needed, RFK, Jr. Thinks it us helpful to defund it so billionaires can buy more yachts |
joyc... | Great for COVID treatment as well |
How comfortable are you with altering chromosomes at a cellular level in humans, as a way to treat genetic conditions?
- 65% Comfortable if safety is ensured
- 25% Uncomfortable due to unknown long-term effects
- 10% Neutral
Comments | |
---|---|
andr... | “Safety” is very ambiguous and pharmaceutical companies have a track record of gaming the system to make drugs and technologies safer than they actually are |
vane... | Wish we knew more about how these changes effect the body on all levels. |
mdul... | I'm uncomfortable due to unknown long-term effects but that does not mean that we should stop this work. I believe that CRISPR editing will likely be a mainstream tool in the coming years but only if its progress is managed with care and skepticism to ensure its safety record is exceptional. |
llou... | I have a family member with a specific genetic disorder. We are waiting for genetic treatment |
geor... | I am so looking forward to more research on this and other research that can stop disease from occurring and cure those afflicted after they have a disease! |
