How do you view the use of mid-decade redistricting to influence upcoming elections?

lind...How are we letting the maga morons take over our Government like this???? HOW?????
arth...California, New York, and many other states have been gerrymandering voting districts for the Democratic Party for years. Politics yes, but also to meet changing population trends. Texas is one of the fastest growing states in the nation and the voting districts have rapidly changed also. So, best to sit back and let the courts decide if this is legal, the same as they’ve always done.
grac...GOP can’t win without cheating.
atli...The good thing is that Republicans know that they will lose the next election. The bad thing is that knowing they will, they intend to use every means possible to cheat democracy.
tnkp...This will cascade out of control. Eliminate gerrymandering.
to55...The Usual Republican win the election at any cost ! Lie ,cheat, violate our constitutional rights
mdda...Anti democratic for politicians to pick the voters
mich...The Republicans claimed Democrats do this. But we do it within the rules and timing that is allowed and it reflects the population census that is done each.DECADE!!!
brad...Disgusting abuse of power
ned....Another King Trump move !
pjpa...Factual data for a follow up story: Results of DECADES of Democrat Gerrymandering: • Massachusetts (MA): GOP ~36% vote → 0 of 9 seats • Connecticut (CT): GOP ~42% vote → 0 of 5 seats • Maine (ME): GOP ~46% vote → 0 of 2 seats • New Hampshire (NH): GOP ~48% vote → 0 of 2 seats • Rhode Island (RI): GOP ~42% vote → 0 of 2 seats • Vermont (VT): GOP ~32% vote → 0 of 1 seat • Hawaii (HI): GOP ~38% vote → 0 of 2 seats • Delaware (DE): GOP ~42% vote → 0 of 1 seat * Illinois (IL): GOP ~44% vote → only 3 of 17 seats (17.6%) • Maryland (MD): GOP ~34% vote → only 1 of 8 seats (12.5%) • New Jersey (NJ): GOP ~46% vote → only 3 of 12 seats (25%) • New York (NY): GOP ~43% vote → only 7 of 26 seats (26.9%) • Oregon (OR): GOP ~41% vote → only 1 of 6 seats (16.7%) • California (CA): GOP ~39% vote → 9 of 52 seats (17.3%)
kvas...It's horrible to think how quickly this president has destroyed any remaining trust people have in government. Winning at all costs is the primary moral characteristic of America now. At one time we would have trusted our judicial system to prevent this kind of election cheating, but who now trusts the judicial system any more? Not me.
geni...They can’t win so they have to cheat
robs...President Biden, VP Harris and the Democrat party allowed 10MM to 12MM additional people to enter the United States in only 4 years as an unfair political tactic to gain advantage. It is only fair that such corruption back-fire on the Democrat party so obsessed with holding onto power instead of actually introducing legislation designed to benefit working Americans and to lead our country towards competing much more effectively against China.
koad...We learned all the way back (40+ years ago) that gerrymandering was not a good thing. It may seem shocking for me to be heard saying the California government has done anything good (although it occurred under a vastly superior governor than the current one), but they have the right idea of having an independent commission to create the districts. But, the Dems have been "cheating" for decades to germander to their benefit (far more than Reps have), so their is not much more they can do, even in CA currently.
hine...The age of districting should be put in the past. We have the technology to have every person vote on all issues. All votes should be by popular vote only and that would eliminate lobbyists and the majority of the corruption in politics. Or, The people should vote on the list of their party’s representatives and then their party prioritized by the number of votes they get, then based on the popular vote the parties get to put their top representatives based on the percentage of the vote they got. Term limits should be set to no more than 3 terms for any representative in order to limit the corruption and influence of lobbyists. The representative’s job should be to educate their constituents on the subjects that the populous would vote on. All states should have to modify their rules on how they select their representatives to be by popular vote only and not by districting.
jand...Trump has no intention of leaving the White House. Victor Orbon 101
19pi...Horrible unfair total BS
mmcn...More dictatorship style tactics that fly in the face of true and open democracy
fidd...I heard it said that in Texas it takes 3 Latino and 5 Black voters to equal the representation of one White voter.
csbr...The most racist move Texas Republicans have ever taken. I hope it crushed the voter apathy in the state and encouraged the Democratic majority in the state to come out in force 50.3% of the population DID NOT vote in the last election. Only 21% Democrats, 27 % Republicans, and 1% 3rd party turned out. Hoping the blue wave drowns the TX GOP.
vita...Too many districts are allowing illegal aliemns to vote…a typical and historical democratoc tactic. Something needs to change. All elections should be decided by over all popular vote. None of the electorial garbage. Sanctuary cities are a perfect example
toko...Democracy is dying in America and fascist leaders are taking over!
bajo...Your question ignores the fact that both parties do what Texas is doing.
jose...This is typical Trump, cheat, cheat and cheat more!
asho...It's just politics.
jkwa...The use of fear tactics and state troopers seems very scary. This country is no longer land of the free.
clpa...It’s a tool that the democrats have used forever. Yes unfair, especially in California. Republicans have no representation locally, as in San Diego and federal has been worse. What Texas is doing seems unfair, but it’s ridiculous the way the districts have been drawn
kold...Hello fascism.
gtru...Legally allows by Texas law.
lora...It is about time Republicans respond to the corrupt Democrats. The Democrats have gerrymandered for years but when it happens the other way they want to scream foul. The Democrats are trying to destroy this country and eliminate the middle class.
mmco...This is nothing but a power grab!!! We must be prepared to fight back with ANY means at our disposal ❌👑💪✊🇺🇸
rolk...Republicans being republicans. This nation needs to remove first past the post voting from all states, this would surely start to invite some more logical approaches to politics and policy.
stev...Should be illegal!!
mdul...This was an unusual question for Anna's DayBreak News. There is no question that it is solely a political tactic to gain advantage with no justification. Trump himself has said it, as has the TX Governor. Each has said they are able to do it since they have votes so they will. There has been no discussion that this is somehow justified because of changing populations - that's the reason for the 10-year redistricting following census updates.
satt...The Democrats are the ultimate cheaters and election riggers!! They did it with the Russia hoax, the Hunter Biden laptop, the raid, J6, the indictments, and the assassination attempts on his life!!! The Texas Democrats also belong in jail for derelictiion of duty!!!!!!
rtet...It is unprecedented for a sitting President to request a state to change normal election procedures solely to give his party an unfair advantage in the next elections. If one state can change congressional districts mid decade, without reference to census figures, they all should.
cica...And now the race to the bottom is on. Thanks MAGAt’s! Every single state will nowmove to redistrict. And the country will continue to be further polarized.
nanc...It’s terrible what is going on in Texas. It opens the door to increased gerrymandering throughout the country.
jlcg...The real issue is to issue federal constitution level rules determining the fundamental algorythm based district's boundaries definition that each syate will have to apply to radically eliminate any gerrymandering attempts.
camp...Gerrymandering is a long used, politically motivated tool to unfairly “stack the deck” in state elections. Both Democrats and Republicans use re-districting to their respective advantage. Neither political party should be able to flip a district to the advantage of the majority party in power. The PEOPLE/VOTERS should have THE VOICE and POWER to decide this issue in our respective states, but State House and Senate Speakers (of each legislative branch)have the ultimate say in what issues can be forwarded to the floor for a vote- or to put this issue of Gerrymandering on the ballot for a vote by the voter. (I realize there are states that heavily restrict Gerrymandering.) And WOW- now it’s moved to mid-decade??!!! Blatant power grab!
mend...But both sides use it to their advantage. It’s really quite sad that this country has become so partisan and a long-term, very detrimental to society.
maed...It’s pure politics! Something the Democrats have been doing so well for many years. They’ve just been out maneuvered by the Republicans this time. I also think we should have a new census taken, to know how many illegal aliens are in this country now. We’ve experienced an unprecedented deliberate action by the Democrats to flood our country with illegal immigration. This should be corrected!
pmwr...Trump needs to be a great American president, not a great Republican president…. All he talks about is partisan crap, not MAGA stuff…. Should sell MARA hats…. Such a lost opportunity to really build us!!!
mari...Texas republicans continue to follow their orange Jesus and his bully tactics. It is indeed a shame and disgusting at the same time.
paul...Democrats would do the exact same thing if they were in power.
cfcu...Not legal the census determines this issue
usct...The Democrats will have to fight fire with fire. This is a cold civil war taking place within states all for power to protect Trump. Trump wants his actions to lead to violence so he can announce more emergency measures and end due process and habeas corpus. Any response must remain peaceful non-violent civil disobedience.
kris...Where will it end? Political gamesmanship is becoming more and more authoritarian. Does this redistricting ensure that the will of the people will be brought forward and represented? Not even a little bit.
john...And this entire thing was started by the Democrats in Wisconsin fighting to redraw the maps in between the census, even having the judges redraw maps…. While it clearly states the process in the Wisconsin Constitution, and it doesn’t include judges drawing maps.
clbo...Things change. A decade is too long to wait if we want to reflect populations. Speed it up through new technologies and AI.
rbir...It is totally fair and legal. Democrats have been doing it for years.
tere...TX abandons democracy. Democracy is inefficient, slow, messy, inconsistent and too often voters are deceived and deceive themselves. Concentration of wealth and power in a small group of white men is a dangerous solution. Those who ride the back of the tiger soon find themselves inside.
eliz...Unfair, but puh-leeze…Dems in IL, NY, NJ, etc etc have been pulling that redistricting stunt for years now. Quid pro quo or make it illegal for both parties.
lgol...Democrats have been doing this for years. I don’t agree with it but GOP needs to do something to offset it.
co.m...I didn’t hear all is this chatter when the Democrats in Colorado carved up the state to their advantage. Hypocrites!

What is your view on the U.S. deploying missile destroyers near Venezuela to combat drug cartels?

  • 55% A necessary step to reduce drug trafficking
  • 36% An unnecessary military escalation
  • 10% Unsure

khof...K
mcma...US gov doesn’t care about victims of addiction and is only using this as an excuse to declare war so Trump can skip elections and remain dictator.
lora...This is good but what would be better is that possession of fentanyl should be a felony. If someone dies from fentanyl it should be classified as murder vs accidental suicide. If you get caught distributing fentanyl you get the death penalty.
grac...Anything this administration does supports trafficking of all types so hard to believe this is meant to do the right thing … J6 and SA pardons are not really indicative of an ethical group
elin...How are destroyers going to interrupt the flow? Sounds unrealistic. More like posturing.
cind...Big show.
arth...Maduro calling up reserves to challenge the U.S. is tantamount to a pissant on an elephants leg!!
atli...The US is unable to control its own problem with drug usage here, so it is looking to distract from its failure by blaming others. The US continues to ship arms to the cartels south of its border but is unwilling to cut those sales because that would be bad for US companies. Sounds hypocritical. But makes Trump feel good. What a fool.
cica...Yeah, what is the navy going to do?
kkep...Another U.S. assault on the rights of other countries.
spri...Necessary because all previous efforts failed.

How realistic do you think Meta’s goal of building AI that surpasses human intelligence is within the next decade?

  • 54% Overambitious or Unrealistic
  • 46% Realistic and Achievable

mdul...The saying "people tend to overestimate what can be done in one year and underestimate what can be done in ten years" is often attributed to Bill Gates. Whoever said it, the observation has certainly seemed to be true numerous times in the past. However, when dealing with something as complex as our brains which we don't even clearly understand a priori, it seems more likely than not that the goal is unrealistic.
dcon...Already done. AI, trained on the game of "GO" in only 4 hours, beat the greatest human player. This is race is over.
trac...I hope AI blows up like the Hindenberg

What is the most likely outcome of sellers refusing to lower existing home prices amid slower sales?

  • 42% Existing home prices will eventually drop significantly
  • 31% Prices will remain high, slowing market transactions further
  • 28% Prices will stabilize as mortgage rates or incentives change

isel...Nothing is more exemplary of the "supply and demand curve" than housing prices. A motivated seller will always find a motivated buyer.
hine...The polls are slanted toward small limited bad economic areas like NYC, Chicago, Washington DC, LosAngeles where people are fleeing the radical politics and crime. The housing markets are up outside those areas.
lora...Let the market work. Eventually, the home market will come back to normal. This surge of prices during Covid Democratic policies now have to work thru the system. There will be losers and gainers.
jlcg...If prices demanded by sellers really hold, this will undoubtly slow the sales in the near term (6 months), Longer term, it is a bet by sellers on the long term mortgage rates coming down, which is an understandable but risky bet as a lot of unpredictable, unrelated events may send them on the contrary spiking.

Minor splicing affects only about 0.05% of genes but is essential for tumor growth. Do you think focusing on such a tiny fraction of genetic processes is a promising strategy for broad cancer treatments?

  • 75% Yes, targeting small but critical processes is a clever approach
  • 19% Unsure
  • 6% No, focusing on a tiny fraction might overlook bigger cancer mechanisms
