edtr...It's naive to think manufactures will absorb the tariffs. They will pass them on to the consumer to maintain profitability. And once an entire industry increases their prices, that's the new base line and we pay higher prices.
davi...Reckless, illegal and will probably force me to close my business
geof...Duh!!
mdul...There truly cannot be any rational argument to conclude that tariffs will fail to raise prices for US consumers. That is indisputable. I think MAGA has followed Trump's own words in saying he doesn't care by how prices increase, as long as he has this tool available to him. He has framed the need in the context of saying he believes that manufacturing will return in large measure to the USA. Thus far, manufacturing has not staged any semblance of a comeback and those based in the US are hurting. That's not to suggest the rest of the world is happy with Trump's trade war. No, each country is harmed by his actions. The question is whether the US will be harmed more than those countries targeted and. although only time will tell, I believe all indicators at this time say the US will be worse off and US consumers will pay the price.
chiu...You libs keep glooming and dooming!
bonn...This is trumps way of manipulating our allies using the authoritarian play book. Nothing but negative consequences are coming.
atli...Worst of all is that the rest of the world distrusts and is angry with the US which will isolate and weaken us in every way.
remy...Trump is also going to backtrack on them very quickly.
mds4...The national and international trading depends on dependability and trust. The long term effects of the US becoming an unreliable partner will last a long time.
pjpa...6 months into the tariff process and inflation has been flat - consumers are holding off purchases bc they anticipated rate cuts
cica...They’re already increasing prices and inflation.
prim...Duh! Government pockets Billions and suppliers pass cost on to consumers ! Do the math!
abyc...It's a no brainer!
mrse...Everyone sees higher inflation coming except Trump
tere...Reallocation of increased costs, tariffs, to consumers inflates prices. A tax by any other names smells as sour. Addressing the national and state fiscal deficits requires insight, imagination and leadership rather than showmanship and intimidation. No more sleight of hand magic fixes, such as crypto, tariffs, shakedowns of academia, media and law businesses, and, instead, cut defense spending and revamp medical expenses while rewriting the tax code to lessen the advantages of private equity, financial services, sports franchises and increase the deduction for child care and create a credit for educational expenses.
pfor...Trump is so out of touch with how tariffs work and economics in general. Navarro and Lutnik.are as crazy as Trump. Amazing that they don't realize the damage they are doing to the US and our standing in the world. So frustrating!
cbvo...Further chaos and administrative expense will occur amid an already complicated system of tariffs. It's all about soundbites for Trump with no regard for the people he's supposed to be supporting.
psor...Trump is an idiot for thinking that tariffs won't be passed on to consumers.
sopa...Tariffs will harm the american people.
tdhu...In the short term, tariffs will adversely impact American consumers. Long term affects should be great for American consumers. The question becomes how long does it take before the benefits become noticeable to the average American and how patient will consumers be in waiting for those advantages. If people can wait out the short term pain, the advantages ought to be a kind of economic renaissance for this nation. If people can’t wait and act out on their impatience, it will be a major sad loss for this country. Patience requires individual and social virtues that may be lacking among the general populace. We shall see.
crae...Be concerned about the US government debt …. The cost of cutting debt Or repaying debt is staggering!
kvas...Of course they will increase prices and inflation. Sure, companies are eating the expense for the moment. That's probably for fear of invoking the wrath of the Bully in Chief if they pass along the added costs to their consumers, but they won't be able to do that for long. Eventually we consumers will have to pay for Trump's ego.
bigb...I view these tariff’s as a self inflicted wound to the economy . Despite what the MAGA world wants you to believe the economy was rolling in the right direction when Donald Trump took over from the Biden administration. This self destructive behavior from the Trump administration is in a slow burn and will eventually cause more inflation, less jobs and a drop in GDP .
alym...But the end result is going to be better for our country.
ssba...The importer (USA) business pays a tax to buy goods that previously did not have. Either the importer absorbs the cost, passes on part of it or all of it. In 2 cases, there will be higher prices and therefore inflation.
clif...Tariffs are a tax. Inflation is too much money chasing too few goods. Government spends tax money
mjpm...Tariffs will pass thru to consumers. It’s a tax the government collects from the importer which does not benefit the consumer. The increased cost will be passed thru by the company that has to pay more to bring their product to market. The tariff concept is proven in history to usually be a bad idea.
less...Half of the US elected a petulant child as our president very sad
crai...Tariffs will likely increase SOME prices with no inflation due to better energy costs and international countries adjusting their margins to sell product in the USA. Americans and America will be better for the Tariffs.
hsin...Trump is using drugs as an excuse to not properly negotiate with Canada and it’s completely false. He’s a bully with no real negotiating skills and atleast knows priminister Carney is out of his league.
nanc...Donny’s making US consumers and businesses pay more for imported goods while he brags about all the tariff money the government is bringing in.
dave...The USA economy will surely suffer.
robf...Despite not having constitutional authority, the tariffs levied by Trump are poorly conceived and have zero measure of diplomacy. It is highly destructive to the globalized a stable construct that the US has spent blood and effort over the last century putting into place.
kkjj...until True Americans start refusing to be mere consumers of amazon,walmart,......china products
blik...Fear is not your friend, people.
robe...No doubt there is no magic here to protect the consumers to no matter what they say the increases will be proportional on a weigted averages basis and this is a easy way to increase fed revenue without going thru the tax increase process
avaa...Get rid of trump no more tarrifs
patr...And will reduce spending when consumers have fear of inflation.
laug...Also…Trump’s erratic imposition of the tarrifs interrupt company’s planning. Countries will see other sources for goods and US will loose markets and trust.
glst...Tariffs are passed to consumers which increases the cost off those items so basically they are regressive taxes on US citizens
belc... While tariffs may increase prices that does not necessarily mean we have inflation. There could be several other outcomes.

atli...If the US were open and honest and sought cooperation over competition the world would be a different and better place.
chri...Espionage of embassies is nothing new. It is our infrastructure being hacked that is life-threatening and preparation for war.
tech...Cyber is mostly deniable, cheap & wastes adversary’s time & $$$ to counter. Best tool in the tool box.
remy...Governments just do that.

What is your assessment of President Zelenskiy’s decision to initially weaken, then restore, Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies?

  • 52% A necessary political compromise
  • 31% A sign of inconsistent leadership
  • 17% Unsure

EmailComments
nanc...Disappointed he made that initial decision. A big mistake!
cger...Zelensky is corrupt and so is the country as a whole. Biden used his influence to fire an official who was trying to expose the problem of his son's corruption. The whole thing is disgusting.
mdul...If only the US had a legislative branch that listened to the people and held their leader accountable. Instead, the first steps that Trump took this time around was to begin firing every entity and person whose role is to ensure the Constitution is followed and guardrails remain in place. Our legislative branch stood idly by, enabling his every step in bypassing and ignoring the Constitution. On this specific issue, Trump's executive order making the bribing of government officials legal barely even got a mention in those first few weeks of frenetic activity.
atli...When a country does the right and necessary thing they become an enemy of the US if the thing favors the people over US hegemony.
remy...It's a sign of panic.

Apple’s unexpected sales growth in China after years of decline highlights its resilience. Do you think Apple's rebound in China is primarily due to product innovation or market-specific factors?

  • 87% Market-specific factors (e.g., pricing, tariffs, local demand)
  • 13% Product innovation

EmailComments
chri...AAPL is seriously lagging on smartphones, except marketing.
atli...Like the rest of the world Japanese consumers are preparing for US caused pain.
brad...Apple hasn’t innovated in years, only pushed out incremental updates at high cost.
nanc...Everyone is buying what they can before the tariffs set in.

  • 6% No, other superfoods are more beneficial

clif...I like grapes….so why not prioritize
tomp...Good bye an apple a day, eat grapes every day?
dian...In the past, grapes have been discouraged because they have a high carbohydrate content. Given the stated beneficial effects, there should be some way to determine which information is more significant for the human diet.
brad...I will certainly add them to the rotation
lill...I eliminated flour and sugar products from my diet due to SIBO and a multi-year general sugar intolerance diagnosed in January 2023. I have eaten grapes, blueberries, bananas and dates ever since, with red grapes eaten almost daily. This article makes me happy!
atli...Always have and always will eat grapes.
rmki...I love grapes. They taste good and from grapes we get Wine. What’s not to love.
nanc...I tend to prioritize berries, but will definitely add grapes to the list. In my area, we don’t have organic grapes, and I don’t like the bitter skins that some grapes have.
rosy...Does it count if I drink the grapes?
cpie...I prioritize all “superfoods” especially those in season and locally grown.
krip...Easy to eat a few or a. bunch alone or dipped in Greek yogurt for protein.

dian...It’s about time that men were given an opportunity to share in the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. It’s about time that men were given an opportunity to share in the prevention of unwanted pregnancy. If this is safe, without hormonal side effects, reversible, and as effective as birth control pills are for women, it would be a welcome addition to the prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
nanc...It’s great news!
kata...It’s about damn time ! So sick of men and misogyny! This should have been studied and applied 50 years ago! And women should only be in charge of abortions. Never males. And vasectomies should be a common minor surgery for all males until they can prove they can afford a child. So sick of males and misogyny in general.
atli...Finally men are taking some responsibility for family planning
brid...Stupid men voting no... of course!!!!
