Anna's Daybreak News

Just facts, you think for yourself

How concerned are you about the implications of this change for future administrations?

  • 78% Very concerned about potential abuses
  • 22% Not concerned, it's just a procedural adjustment

EmailComments
maxn...It’s a team effort to get objectives done; as such, the POTUS team has to be completed.
jrsa...An example of the off spoken phrase- a slippery slope is here
rmtr...Too much power already exists in this administration-and adding more to the Congress means we have no bi-partisan legislators to refute the power.
rake...They need to place people in power to run their departments .
jeff...Just another petty move by the petty ruling party.
tcba...Rule change exacerbates lack of congressional oversight - there’s vitally none now
atli...With control over life time appointments to the courts, MAGA will assure that the march to fascism is successful and will continue past my lifetime.
sara...Just more string arm tactics that remove the need for our legislators to actually legislate through discussion and compromise. Why are Republicans pushing? They've already managed to get the most unqualified bunch of ignorant hacks appointed to all leadership positions - what's the need to lower the bar even further?
brbc...We are getting nothing done with the Democreeps.
came...The Republicans won’t abuse this but Democrats will when they get into power
caza...I'm stunned by poll results. I support an energetic executive branch. An obstructionist Senate and the bureaucratic blob (i.e. the deep state, the swamp) should not block the will of the people. Add to that extreme ideological members of "independent" agencies (i.e. NLRB, FCC, the Federal Reserve, Etc.) and Federal judges who rule based on their beliefs rather than the Constitution.
usct...The GOP should remember. What goes around comes around. If the Democrats ever regain control of Congress and the Presidency, they may regret the move.
rtet...The GOP is dismantling our democratic republic in full sight. A one party state by definition cannot be a democracy. The GOP has gerrymandered as many red state congressional elections as possible. Yet half of the country identifies as Independent or Democrat. Taxation without representation is one reason why the colonists succeeded from Britain. The GOP congressional has stolen representation from all Americans. Our democracy worked for 250 years. Why is the GOP trying to break it?
kitt...Way too many liberties given the executive branch…which is on a roll to manage it all - no thought to cost to tax payers - Public needs or wants
jill...Typically Republicans tend to give presidents their choice of nominees while Democrats are more likely to weaponize the process. Democrats have forced this change and will have to live with it.
caju...Our founders never intended for Congress to drag out confirmation process simply due to dislike of the president.
nanc...All part of the Project 2025 playbook. We’re heading down the path to authoritarianism much faster than I thought we could. Beware.
mdul...If Trump ever allows free elections again and hasn't so rigged the voting rules that it's impossible for anyone other than a Republican to win office, it will be interesting to see what will happen if a Democrat is ever elected. All of this concentration of power is what every POTUS has wanted almost since the birth of our nation but no person before Trump has ever been able to get the other two branches of government to wholly abdicate their role in our Democratic Republic. Having succeeded in doing so through Trump's tactics, it does lead one to wonder what next as we become a fascist authoritarian nation.
chiu...Pass them thru!
arth...Holding up appointments is just opposing party pettiness anyhow.
pjpa...Harry Reid was the 1st Senate Leader to institute this change & liberals are hypocrites for crying when Republicans play the game by their rules
cger...You and your Progressive Leftist readers are naturally concerned that their obstructionist behavior to advance progress in the United States will be thwarted by this action. Progressive Leftist communist hate America and want to see her fail as quickly as possible.
bria...Balance between Senate oversight and aggressive obstruction by Democrats.
rmby...The Republicans have no ethics or care about their constituents and what we want. They are fully engaged in the Trump cult. No regard for what is best for the country.
jrv1...Sword will cut both ways. If both sides of the aisle would have run a thorough but expeditious process, this would have never been introduced
pfor...It just streamlines the approval of crazies Luke RFK Jr,, Linda McMahon, and Kash Patel with no oversight. If we had Republicans with any spines they wouldn't be in place destroying the country.
csbr...Pendulums always swing
sher...This administration doesn't follow established rules for anything anymore...just plowing through, ignoring constitutional protections, ignoring rights of large groups of citizens and setting up a situation that makes us all unsafe!
mari...It's a procedural change to rush through unqualified yes men.
bett...The Republican-led Congress is enabling Trump's unconstitutional, unAmerican overhaul of our democracy. This is the latest example.
jlan...There were laws put in place by our forefathers to have power shared equally so the president could not make changes at his whim, which is exactly what is happening now.
kvas...Congress is supposed to be an independent branch of government that provides checks and balances to the power of the president. Sadly, the old turtleneck Mitch McConnell began the erosion of that idea, and, now, Congress is nothing but Traitor Don's rubber stamp. Same with the supreme court. The country's downfall is frighteningly fast.
kart...Republicans will rue this decision when another party has the majority.
payn...Trending is the wrong decision
satr...Not concerned now as the situation has been unnecessarily slowed down. Am concerned for future when there is not the delay issue and this will set a bad precedent

How do you view Bolsonaro's conviction for attempting a coup?

  • 83% Justified and necessary
  • 17% Unfair and politically motivated

EmailComments
cica...The same thing should’ve happened to Trump after January 6. But it didn’t and now we’re losing our democracy and our liberty.
don....We should do the same with Trump.
hine...Of course it is politically motivated, because a coup is a violent political act against democracy. When the minority pushes radical non-majority ideas they resolve to violence rather than change. We see that same thing in the US today with political murders of people they can’t beat with using other good ideas and debate. A coup is the same act on a larger scale.
kfer...I don’t know. But, feel you should be specific as atowhat U.S. source you quote. Trump administration may be in power but it does not repr the people.
atli...Fortunately other countries apply the rule of law despite the bad example set by the US.
jtak...They appear to be much more organized and committed to a healthy democracy than the US is.
kvas...Traitor Don deserves the same fate.
csbr...Too bad Trump didn’t get the same, with every seditionist hung.
susa...Brazil managed to enact the democratic process when America couldn’t. Which one is the banana republic?
jeff...At least some folks are not giving in to Trump’s threats and bullying!
sing...And why couldn't we do this in our country...
avaa...The same should happen for trump
nanc...Doubtful he will spend much or any time in prison.
rich...At least one country got it right!
jmbe...What earthly reason could the US have for expressing its "dissatisfaction" (by threatening sanctions in addition to the tariffs already imposed) with another former ally's internal politics? It's just Trump expressing sympathy for a fellow dictator. In Brazil's case, unlike the US's, the dictator is being held accountable for his failed coup attempt following a defeat at the polls.

What do you think about OpenAI's decision to become a for-profit company?

  • 61% Negative: It compromises their mission to benefit humanity.
  • 39% Positive: It will drive innovation and funding.

EmailComments
emyo...It will become purely profit-driven at great expense to all life on earth.
atli...Whatever happen to the requirement that corporations serve a public good.
cger...Your progressive Leftist readers want everything for free. That's why they are embracing communism. They are cowards and have given up trying and want the Government to take care of them from cradle to grave.
nanc...Mixed feelings here…

How do you feel about the accuracy of health monitoring features in smartwatches?

  • 65% I trust them for personal health insights
  • 35% I’m skeptical and prefer professional medical devices

EmailComments
cher...The doctors and big pharma will love all the new meds they can pump into people so easily.
cand...I believe the smartwatch can be added tool in alerting with those that may have hypertension but are not testing in any other manner. They should be a tool to give the wearer reason to seek medical attention.
nanc...Though they aren’t suitable replacements for professional medical care, they are useful in alerting wearers that there might be a problem.
kmar...It’s a good warning system, to be followed up by professionals if there is a problem.
akyg...I love my Apple Watch health information. Why not have tis information available? It is just information. But it does provide data for when I do seek professional medical assistance.

How convincing do you find the evidence presented about vitamin B3's effects on fatty liver disease?

  • 82% Very convincing; it offers a promising solution.
  • 18% Not convincing; more research is needed.

EmailComments
atli...More research is always needed. Knee jerk reaction to health care advances are dangerous ans unscientific.
nanc...Amazing what science and research can do, isn’t it?
