Just facts, you think for yourself

How much weight should alleged abuse claims (like the brothers’ claims of sexual abuse) have in parole hearings?

  • 38% Significant weight, as it relates to motive and trauma
  • 34% It should be considered but not decisive
  • 28% Minimal weight unless fully proven in court

EmailComments
ceal...The sexual abuse claims are Hail Mary’s meant to justify their greedy and sick murders.
ttim...He committed Cold blooded murder.
tjaw...If proven in court, a history of abuse should be given significant weight in determining sentences. Abuse is traumatic and frightening -- eliminating the source is a form of self-defense.
jenh...
ebr....The Menendez brothers should be free.
09al...let the brothers out!!!! They were ABUSED. If a nasty ugly murderer like Gypsy Rose can be freed then so can Erik and Lyle Menendez!!! They have served their time. Let them breathe fresh air for their last bit of life
cica...This is really a tough one. If the abuse was real, and not an excuse or defense strategy(I don’t really know much about this case.). That should add a lot of weight to why they’re in prison in the first place. I wouldn’t call it justifiable homicide, but they could’ve been driven to the edge. If that’s the case, maybe they’ve done enough time at this point. Misbehavior in prison? It’s got to be one boring ass place. People are bound to get in trouble if they have any kind of leeway.
rbir...Sexual abuse would be more powerful as an excuse if the twins were young, but they were well over 21 when the murders took place. That was years after any abuse ended.
jmoo...They should have gotten death. F them
daly...If they were indeed abused, I feel they have already served enough time for the crimes they committed. Their mental state as a victim of abuse has to factor in to punishment
sy_o...Depending on age and what the abuse is also how often
lora...These guys killed their parents in cold blood. I do not believe in a minute they were abused. They should never be released and the judge should not have changed their sentence. Both deserve the death penalty.
nanc...Best case scenario is for it to be proven in court.
ryan...There are countless other sexual abuse victims at the hands of parents who do not go on to murder them. It may go to motive, but this was a pre-planned attack, not self-defense. In addition to planning and attempts to cover it up, goes to their understanding of right vs wrong and ignoring it.
sesi...Trauma is not an excuse for violence.
bcwa...Many people suffer abuse. Not a reason at all for murder.

In balancing immigration enforcement and environmental protection, which should take priority in this case?

  • 57% Protecting the Everglades ecosystem
  • 27% Both equally important, but needs better planning
  • 16% Maintaining secure detention facilities

EmailComments
gban...This is like Auschwitz all over again!
cica...We really only need prison detention facilities for criminals. Many of these people they rounded up are not actually criminals. They’ve never done anything violent. They broke the law by coming into the country illegally or overstaying their Visa. This abuse of them needs to stop. America strength has always been our magnanimity not our cruelty and abuse
step..."Both equally important??" What a revolting idea. Quit giving fascism a voice.
atli...Inhumane treatment of freedom seekers is the primary issue here.
lora...The Democrats allowed open borders, now Trump needs to clean up. People do not realize the danger the Democrats put the American people in by allowing these illegal immigrants. We have immigration laws for a reason. Hopefully, we will not have another 9/11
rjfe...This facility was always a publicity stunt with no other reason for its placement there.
gran...It's idiotic to spend resources detaining and deporting those whose only "crime" is to have come to the US w/o immigration papers and who are gainfully employed, paying taxes and supporting the economy. Detain those whose record includes actual criminal activities. Arresting police officers, blue collar workers and military veterans is a sickening abuse of power and serves only nefarious un-American agendas.
lind...Most of the detainees are not hardened criminals and should not be in a facility let one one as disgusting and deplorable as this one. Perhaps the maga moron orange turd should spend a week there. He is a convicted felon after all and should be locked away and the key thrown in the ocean!
chiu...Lock them up and send them out
wind...The "detention centers" are concentration camps and should be addressed as such. These are cruel and unusual punishment and not only a violation of the constitutional right of EVERY PERSON IN THE US regardless of their immigration status, they are a violation of human rights. That being said, we need to preserve the glades because they cannot be replaced. Within a few decades time Florida will become taken by the sea slowly, destroying natural preserves are only going to speed up that process.
kvas...When we lose species, they're gone forever, and our life on this planet is diminished in ways that we can't even foresee. On the other hand, this immigrant bashing hatred is just the latest fad that the Republicans are using to stir up their followers. This fad will fade, and things will hopefully return to a better place. Save the ecosystem.
jald...This is why America is declining because the liberals all want to destroy us. They support the illegal immigrant over the citizens. They will not halt Alligator Alcatraz.
blue...This is not humane. Stop please in the name of Jesus, please find a different way. Amen 🙏.
rhon...This is nothing more than a concentration camp and as a society we should be ashamed.
rbir...The site had already been used for a military training base. There is nomfurther damage to the area by converting it to a holding facility. Besides, alligators and pythons don’t mind at all.
nmik...The footprint is small in that system. Allow it as a facility with ongoing improvements but don’t shut it down by order of activist judges.
nanc...What a boneheaded thing to put an immigration detention center in the middle of one of the world’s most diverse habitats. Shameful!
cmoy...That prison was nothing but a show of power and cruelty. Get rid of it.
jlcg...Whatever the reasons Florida officials had to develop "emergency" detention facilities, choosing a site in the middle of a protected wildlife reserve while there were at least half a dozen other possibilities inside the states was a provocation which needed to be sanctionned.
pjpa...It's an existing facility that's use has minimal effect on it's already authorized use
katl...Thrump’s administration and ICE activities are shameful, unlawful and all need to cease. SO DISGRACEFUL AND UNAMERICAN!
csbr...Use Mar A Lago, it’s a pretty shitty place. Plus it was also probably used to traffic minors for sex. MAGA for Pedophiles
mr.m...Dims just don't get it

How effective do you believe the Federal Reserve’s expected interest rate cut will be in supporting the labor market?

  • 76% It will have limited effect given other economic pressures
  • 17% It will provide meaningful relief and boost job growth
  • 6% Unsure

EmailComments
jdhu...Quarter percent is virtually meaningless. A half percent would send a more solid signal to the markets and have a meaningful impact on the consumer.
jabe...This is clearly a liberal focused email distribution. The articles are also tilted heavy to the left. Sad folks can’t just write the news without their political biases so heavily influencing it.
milt...I’m not convinced there will be a cut in September. There will be more inflation data between now and then that will also need to be considered.
jald...The FED will not cut rates enough this year if they even do it. They hate middle class America and we hate them equally. Bitcoin is the only way enough of this fiat bullshit that keeps millions poor and in slavery.
cica...Yeah the Wiley coyote just ran off the cliff. It’s just a matter of time
nanc...In this climate, it’s hard to see what can offset all the damage trump is doing.
lora...Anything we do to improve the economy including cutting interest rates will support the labor market. People need to go to work versus joining riots for causes they do not even understand.

Who holds more responsibility for escalating tech tensions in this situation?

  • 51% Both equally responsible
  • 30% The U.S. government, due to restrictive export policies
  • 19% The Chinese government, due to its security crackdown

EmailComments
ebr....It's Trump and his regime with their indecisive actions regarding tariffs and other bs they perform.
milt...The U.S. clearly started the whole tariff fiasco, spread bad faith messages about China, and continues to push it. It is one point is see all the time with government bureaucracy, many will push unworkable policy calculating their benefits without consideration that the other party is going to change the behavior. The Trump bureaucrats are no different. The recipants of this tariff nonsense are going to do what they can to deal with Trump and spend their real efforts closing the U.S. out of long term trade. It will take some time but we are going to find ourselves all alone and poorer. This is but one example of that taking place.
lora...The US and China need to work together on tech issues. Trump plans to do this once he finishes peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
atli...If China and the US were to cooperate on chip development instead of competition as China has suggested the consumer would be the winner.
cica...Trump‘s a bull in a China shop. He took a perfectly good economy and destroyed it. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette, but what omelette is he making? It all seems very scattered shot and kind of crazy. The tariffs that is. Teddy Roosevelt said ‘ talk softly and carry a big stick’ Trump shouts from the rooftop at the top of his lungs. This language is abusive and insulting. And he always chickens out on the consequences anyway. He’s also got tiny hands and we are told a mushroom size penis. His brain is apparently rotting cabbage. So much for the big stick.
jald...China is the enemy and if you can’t see that then you are the fool. The US needs self reliance and cut China out of it.
kvas...Trumpty Dumpty
nanc...Though both are responsible, we wouldn’t have this problem if trump hadn’t begun his restrictive tariff policy.

If EMR proves safe and effective in humans, would you consider it as an alternative to LASIK surgery?

  • 92% Yes, because it's less invasive and potentially reversible
  • 4% Unsure
  • 4% No, I'd prefer the established LASIK procedure

EmailComments
mwst...I've had LASIK, and although my vision improved, I would not do it again. A non surgical option seems way better.
ritc...anything that is safer and reversible is preferable
mart...I have lasik and have enjoyed it’s benefits. Would jump on any opportunity to have the best sight possible. What a great time to be alive. Technology can be used to improve our lives and genetic shortcomings!
kath...Sounds like a lot more research and clinical trial are necessary. But the number of patients with LASIK complications is vastly underreported. LASIK is very damaging to the eye, and patients are not sufficiently informed of the risks. See documentary "Broken Eyes".
edc....There are amazing medical advances happening all the time. As someone who suffers from issues related to the cornea, I am hopeful that in time, this would be a solution. But faced with the decision right now, I have to opt for what is known and tested overtime.
ttim...Tested and proven.
kvas..."Proves safe and effective" is the key. Who decides that? If Worm Brain's Dept. of Health has anything to do with it, then I would not trust that it truly is safe and effective.
tomp...I have had cataract surgery, I don't think this applies to me. Also by the time this gets approved, I will probably have passes my expiration date!
ptec...I was told by my optometrist that if I got lasik I would still have to wear some sort of glasses for reading or driving. Who wants to spend so much money for that?
atli...Science is the process of continued improvement. Only MAGAites want to stop it, unless their MBA's can make tons of money.

Does this new approach to cancer vaccines change your optimism about future cancer treatments?

  • 91% More optimistic, this is a breakthrough
  • 6% No change
  • 3% Less optimistic, it sounds experimental and uncertain

EmailComments
kvas...Thank God for science and scientists.
mdul...There are numerous challenges ahead, as there are for all new medical treatment options, but this one faces a particular challenge in that HHS Secretary RFK Jr has decided that mRNA is dangerous, despite every single study showing precisely the opposite.
lora...The Pharmaceuticals will never find a cure for cancer as it will cost them billions of dollars. They continue to gaslight us that they are working on cures but this is just another drug to get us hooked on for their profit.
nanc...Of course, Kennedy is against mRNA vaccines, so it may be awhile before we see any benefit from this research.
kenr...Significant breakthrough. Researchers should accelerate trials to get this safe and approved ASAP.
msme...We need to focus more on the core of why people get cancer. The treatments cause such issues post survival.
atli...Hopefully it will be available soon to all except fundamentalist Christians since it is not mentioned as being approved by god.
