mrse... | Keep treating our foreign friends like this and then we will wonder why it’s so difficult to encourage their investment here |
cand... | Notify South Korea-heads up to Hyundai and then give the company 2 weeks to make sure that all their personnel have the required paywork--if not-- have them flown back to South Korea. |
cger... | Those jobs will go to United States Citizens who should have had them in the first place. |
knbb... | Complacency and "head-in-the sand" policies have brought us to this point. In order to fix things, it is now more painful than we might like. It's like our physical health, if we take care of issues early, we can avoid the pain and heartache of major surgery later. |
obri... | Trump’s policies are converting friends to enemies |
ddal... | The supposed crack down on immigration is related to "criminals" described as raping, killing and stealing in all of our communities. How is this keeping America safer? Give me a break. |
rtet... | If ICE thought Hyundai was hiring undocumented workers, it should have contacted the corporation directly. The Trump regime's hostility and disrespect to our allies will only cause them to think twice about investing in the US in the future. |
bill... | Trump & his administration are ignoring both federal & state laws in regards to traditional verification of immigrants. Any immigrant should get their day in court unless they have had prior criminal convictions in US or another country. |
gran... | Why isn't E-verify used/enforced in the first place and why isn't the state of Georgia employed as a partner is such activities? Aside from perpetrating a campaign of fear, such actions accomplish very little and at a very high per person cost. When all of the "illegal" migrants with an actual criminal history have been apprehended and processed the status of others who are simply working without documents can be reviewed. |
dcar... | Nothing but a shit show, makes us look like the keystone cops. |
smau... | Most of the Korean nationals arrested were actually here on valid business visas, but they were stretching the bounds of what types of work was technically allowed while they were here. It's hard to make a case these "illegals" are doing anything other than helping legitimate businesses build necessary infrastructure. |
mkd5... | Raid was performed mostly for PR political purposes. Harm the attempt to bring manufacturing to the US |
heig... | We are making enemies of our allies! Use some common sense! |
a161... | They tried to kill their helper after help to save them. Later, who will help them? |
rjre... | I’m sure the admin could have worked a diplomatic solution with South Korea. |
cica... | Probably the biggest own goal in diplomatic history. Trump’s the Manchurian candidate. Our enemies couldn’t have done a better job of alienating us from our long standing allies |
trag... | There is a better way to enforce immigration laws that does not require force. As usual, ICE came in like masked strongmen, the arms of a dictator, to capture a group of immigrants and restrain and remove them - forcefully. Another way, which would require patient effort with kindness and compassion, would be to review the status of each immigrant, each person, to assess the possibility of helping that person obtain legal status and provide a pathway to citizenship. It’s easier to round them up and remove them, but they are human beings trying to make a life in this country and we should do what we can to treat them the way we would want to be treated and help them rather than hurt them. |
aunt... | What happened to "nobody's above the law?" That's the left's battlecry!! And guess what libs, WE AGREE! ;-) |
mlan... | We are a country of laws as set out in our constitution and bill of rights. If we live by how we feel and not by the morality of clear and unwavering laws, every individual will believe anything they are told or what meets their selfish wants. That is a hopeless life of endlessly pursuing our ever changing seared consciences. |
chiu... | Broke the law. Out of here! |
gwal... | The workers were here illegally. What was done was right. If you do not think this was done properly, then you are a libtard! |
tomd... | I agree we need to protect our borders, but what happened to implementing a prudent and methodical approach that will remove the people who truly don't belong in the US and protect and respect those who do? |
huns... | is this really happening in our country? very sad. |
lina... | Why can't immigrants come to our country legally ? Why not follow the law ? |
ebr.... | It is dumb. These are experts we need if we’re partnering. They’re welcome here and we should thank them! |
pmtm... | It’s a good economic booster |
fcse... | But Korean consulate should have been notified afterward. |
ashi... | This could easily be attained through diplomacy |
jrmu... | Will you add additional options? I think this is ICE trying to get their numbers up with people who are working and contributing to our economy with skills that may not be available in the local area. Where are the murderers and other criminals that need to be deported? |
slmc... | Why not inform workers and employer of status and give workers s chance to update visas! Disrupts everyone’s life and employers production. This is all about putting on a show and is a detriment to our country and needlessly disrupts people’s lives. To say nothing of the costs incurred to !😱 |
usct... | Just plain cruel. |
merv... | Good people were doing a job that is needed on USA soil. Again, this seems to be about numbers rather than actual visa violations. |
pier... | Nations may not break our visa laws just cause they are investing in the US |
jald... | These were supposed to be American jobs instead SK sent their people over here to work leaving Americans without a chance to work in a factory in our own country. These other countries have no right to send their people here and then break our laws. Makes me sick to see Americans who vote in this poll not sticking up for their fellow Americans. We come first before any non citizen does and SK would do the same to us vs their citizens. |
ttim... | NO ILLEGALS , PERIOD !, |
mdul... | There is no doubt that immigration and labor laws should all be obeyed. But, let's not forget the entire premise behind funding an ICE department with a budget larger than all other law enforcement organizations in the country and larger than almost every country's total military budget. Recall that Trump said that there were more than 10,000,000 people were in the US illegally and that he would begin by deporting the large number of violent criminals among them (without any evidence, Trump through to Johnson have claimed that number to be between 5,000,000 and 6,000,000). As of the end of May, 2025, ICE had arrested 752 non-citizens convicted of murder and 1,693 convicted of sexual assault. That's all - less than 2% of the people deported. So, Stephen Miller and Trump put in place quotas for ICE (more than 3000 deportations each day) which led to ICE then waiting at federal buildings to apprehend visa holders taking all the legal steps for immigration. That also led them to have to target farms and hotels since that is where all the people here without legal status are working and paying taxes. Now, they've targeted engineers and technicians here to set up manufacturing facilities after their companies invested billions of dollars. |
pjpa... | Any truth to rumors this plant was provided $5 BILLION DOLLARS in funding under Biden’s $1.9 TRILLION DOLLARS Infrastructure Bill??? |
stev... | Our government gives these foreign businesses all kind of tax breaks and other incentives to build here. If they can’t employ legal American citizens, and follow our laws, they could be shut down. |
capo... | They are ways of achieving corrective action without turning everything into a shit show. |
atli... | Just a another display of Trump's hatred of renewable energy, immigrants, science, and lhis ove of violence as a solution to everything. |
roni... | Would be interesting to know why this particular plant over one in let’s say Mississippi or Texas. Clearly it’s not about labor for white people, but punishment for the State of Georgia and/or the corporations’ leaders. Connect the dots. |
hbro... | They received huge tax incentives to build in Georgia and bring jobs to Georgia workers then cheated and brought in their own labor. Send them all back to Korea and hire locals. |
nosk... | These plants are in the United States to make jobs for local residents. This is not what is happening. They get tax breaks, etc., and then do not train or hire local residents. |
4tam... | We should have clear immigration laws with a more straight forward process for legal immigration. It is clear that immigration is healthy for our country but it needs definition and due process. |
arth... | The immigration laws are there. They should not be selectively enforced, or, they go back to ignoring them as they’ve been doing. |
jdba... | South Korea is far more strict about enforcing immigration laws against Americans and any other foreign citizen in the country without proper documentation. This has been true for decades, even now under the Trump administration |
barb... | Only true criminals and drug dealers were supposed to be affected. Now immigrants that are working hard, tax paying and some served in our military with children that served our military. What’s happening is digraceful |
sand... | The current administration's policies are harmful to our world! He needs to be stopped asap! |
hine... | All laws must be complied with, without exception. Allowing people to be in our country without the proper prior approvals indicates that someone working in the government did not do their job to protect America, and that is a waste of taxpayer's money and must be stopped. |
brad... | The laws are on the books. Enforce them. |
brad... | They wouldn't have raided the plant if it wasn't related to electric vehicles. |
pete... | I thought he was trying to encourage foreign manufacturing investment in the US not deterring it. |
pfor... | Sounds like South Korea approached this incorrectly but with our tenuous international relationships a 'normal and intelligent' president would work through it professionally, not the stupid way.... |
avcv... | Remember when Walmart got dragged through the media years ago when their temp agency had supplied them with janitors that didn’t pass the I-9? And why do employers worry so much about training HR to complete the I-9, why does the government train us to properly us e-verify, and why have there always been government audits and fines for I-9 and e-verify non-compliance, and why does it cost a company $15,000+ in legal fees to hire a highly technical H-1b employee?? Because we’ve always had strict immigration laws with quotas. The laws were broken during recent years, so getting back closer to normal seems harsh, but we couldn’t continue down the path of chaos. |
