kvas...I was disheartened by how rapidly Americans gave up civil liberties after 9/11 out of fear. Now, we can't even trust our own Department of Justice, because our president's ego requires that everybody, and every federal agency, kiss his ring. The thing in the Oval Office will be long dead (thankfully) before our grandchildren are finally allowed to see just how much corruption existed in this administration. And that includes burying evidence that might hurt the thing.

psha...It appears to me that 'due care' is a valid measure of public and private institutional effectiveness. Repeated failures lead to an erosion of trust, whether it be proactive safety measures for food, air traffic, or weather.
nanc...After reading how harmful farming shrimp is to the environment and wild populations, I limit my shrimp purchases to wild caught from the U.S. and Canada, and not very often. More costly but better quality.

mdul...It’s nuts that flight attendants do not get paid until the door closes. The requirement that they be on site and just waiting through delays, changes, etc., that cause them to work longer hours, and sometimes days, is nuts.

kvas..."Most effective" is a highly subjective and ambiguous phrase. The "most effective" support, in terms of backing Russia off, would be all-out war against Russia. But what sane person would be willing to go that far? "Air support" is another such term. What does that mean? Are we going to send the Air Force over to engage in air fights with Russia's air force? That is a very big step toward war with Russia. Any way, does anybody still trust the thing in the Oval Office to actually follow through on anything? He doesn't feel bound today by anything he said yesterday. Or maybe he just doesn't remember what he said yesterday. To call him mercurial would be a serious insult to the Greek god Mercury, but he sure isn't reliable.

trag...Both reported symptoms and objective bio markers are important tools in diagnosis, however self reports tend to be subjective and may not be thorough or accurate. There is more room for error in self reports. The presence or absence of an objective bio marker can provide more uniform and consistent criteria for diagnosis.
jamf...I have had Long Covid since 2020, and we have known about viral persistence since 2021. I am not convinced...It's true that the misfolding of proteins leads to abnormalities, I'm just not sure how to gauge this...

wlof...Its more complex than these binary questions suggest. They probably do understand emotions significantly more than we think, but maybe do not process them to the extent we do. However, to me this demonstrates the power of the amygadali in behavior. Wow!! No wonder its so hard to overcome traumas from childhood.
